Default P0174 air filter?

P0174 code came up this morning. Before I go down the 02 sensor rabbit hole I wanted to ask. could my air filter do this? Reason I ask is because two days ago I replaced my air filter and it isn't the thicker conventional style it's thinner unit similar to a K&N after market. Thanks for any advice. I'm going to put my old filter in for a few days to see if the code comes back anyway.

I would look at the fuel trends first to see "How lean the O2 sensor thinks it is. Then I would clean the MAP sensor before looking at the O2 sensor (it may be bad, but both of these diagnostic tests are cheap and easy to help confirm the reason before crawling under the car.) Bank 2 is on the left side of the car and depending on the size of your hand may require the removal of the front prop shaft. Do some more testing before diving into the O2 sensor.

WAIT! you said "similar to" a K&N filter, did you apply oil to this filter? If so, Clean the Map sensor first, clear the codes and then read the fuel trends.

Hope this helps
Jeff

Do you mean MAF sensor? While there is a MAP sensor on the 4.4, its not typically an issue.

Default You can call a rose anything you want; BUT you can't do nothing about the smell

MAP/MAF yes I meant MAF. (The "thing" next to the air filter)
I was just on a forum for Mini Coopers and dealing with someone with boost issues from the supercharger and they have 2 MAP sensors and no MAF..

So, thanks for the correction.

Maybe just do an adaptations reset on the engine and see how it settles out.

Thanks for the info. I’ll first try an adaptive reset then clean the MAF.
fYI, the came on even with the old filter in so they rules out the air filter. And no oiling on filter.

Ok, i've done the adaptive reset. Waiting to see if the code comes back. Next step will be cleaning MAF. What would you suggest I use? General MAF spray cleaner?

Another update, cleaned MAF and also went through and checked all the live values for front O2 sensors. I'm not 100% on what I should be looking for but I can tell that the bank 1 and bank 2 front O2 sensors are running at the same levels which would indicate that there isn't anything wrong with them. Should I be looking to switch out the MAF? Thanks for any help.

If the MAF is original, could be worth the swap but it would be a guess. Personally I hate guessing, but if parts/sensors are old I dont mind because I figure if they have not failed, they may soon. And the MAF takes a lot of abuse. Get a Denso MAF from Toyota, a lot cheaper than genuine LR and even the training material mentions its a Denso MAF. Heck, the entire engine management system is pretty much Denso.

OK, installed a new MAF from Lucky 8 yesterday, cleared the codes and check light went away. Drove some today and all of a sudden tonight. It's stalling out. Starts up then dies unless I lightly hit the gas. could this be from a bad MAF or is it a total fluke? New codes came up now telling me I'm too rich bank 1 and 2 P0172 and P0175. I sure am having fun. My first thought is to put the old MAF back in and see if that changes it. Any thoughts?
I've also got codes for speed control P0576-16 but i'm guessing thats something to do with cruise control and not really important.
