Default Parking Aid

...anyone ever have their rear parking sensors "lose comm with ECU" before? If so, what is the root cause and how can it be fixed? The IIDTool could not clear the fault.

....could a hard reset fix it?

No, but read about it. Bad lead, or bad sensor. You may be able to see which sensor is causing you fits with the IID tool.

GAP support folks are suggesting I check the fuse (36P). It's in the "other" fuse box, behind the glove box. Any tricks to accessing this without breaking something?

Ya, just open and empty the bottom glove box. Drop it like you are changing the cabin air filter. I think there is supposed to be a fuse puller tool in there attached to it. If not, a standard fuse puller, or something with a bit of a hook to grab the fuse out. I've used mini needle nose in a pinch.

I'm making the assumption you know how to change the cabin air filter. So I'll add. there are two curved guides on the lower glove box. You push them at the top to release the catch, and allow the box to drop it down to gain access.

...never changed the cabin air filter before, but now I know where it is!

I changed the fuse; not too difficult. Fixed the problem. Hopefully it was an anomaly and doesn't blow again. I had a bike rack on the back a while back and it was causing the sensors/system to work overtime as it would stay on (solid) while in R. Maybe that caused it to blow....who knows. I'll keep an eye on it.

Gross. When I changed mine, must have been the PO's filter - it had mold all over it.

The fuse cover is easy... the one behind it that holds the cabin air filter can be a pain. I always have a hard time getting that air filter flap to stay up and difficultly closing the plastic cover.

I inadvertently took that flap off....went back on pretty easily. I guess I was lucky.

@schwaggy: I don't mean my filter has NEVER been changed; only that I've never done it myself.

Oh, it's easy enough to get back on if the filter is old... it's when you put a new filter in and the crease for that side flap hasn't really been folded well that it pushes out on the plastic cover and makes reassembly difficult.
