Default Passenger Airbag cut-off switch woes

Hey folks, I've got a new-to-me 2007 LR3 HSE. Carfax and previous owner claim no wrecks. I pulled the codes with my GAP Tool and got an airbag code:
- B1A00-49 Control module - System internal failure
So I bought a used (but latest version v4.4) RCM and installed it last night. The old RCM was stamped v4.0. That's the airbag module under the center console. Now I'm getting codes:
- B1D75-13 Passenger airbag cut-off enable switch - General electric failure - circuit open
- B1D74-13 Passenger airbag cut-off disable switch General electric failure - circuit open
- B00DF-00 Passenger restraints disable switch

Looks like these American market vehicles do not have the manual enable/disable switch for the passenger airbag. If that's correct, is there supposed to be something plugged into the wire connector where that switch would be?

Where should i go looking for bad connections? Could this be a bad Occupancy Module under the seat?

I hunted around under the passenger seat for a while and didn't see anything jumping out at me. That said I haven't gotten in there with a multimeter to check continuity of things. I assume the Occupancy Module wiring harness terminates at the RCM under the center console.. maybe that's where I should start. Anyways, any hunches/advice would be much appreciated!

Default Solved!

posting the solution here for posterity.

Turns out the module I replaced it with was programmed for a non-NAS vehicle. I reached out to GAP support team. they were able to get me the NAS firmware for my SRS module!! I flashed the new firmware and bingo, all was well - no more srs lights, no more srs codes.
Before I heard back from GAP, I spent a solid 4 hours tracing wires and testing continuity and voltages. I even took it in to JC's British and 4X4 here in Denver who are supposedly the best indy shop in CO. they were not helpful, said they couldn't flash the firmware, and told me the solution was: "you should buy a brand new $800 srs module and pay us $500 to install and program it".

Lessons learned - GAP can be better than the "pros". Avoid a headache by buying NAS parts

JC's is ridiculously priced. I called about picking up inner/outer tie rods for both sides. They quoted almost $600 just for the parts. So I went to Amazon and cobbled together TRW inners and Delphi outers for $100 total delivered to my doorstep in 2 days. Many more stories but this is just the most recent..

Hey I know this is a long shot as this thread is a few years old, but I have the same code (only one present). I was about to order a replacement RCM but wanted to know where it was located as I've heard 3 different places. Pass side dash, under pass seat, or under center console. Also, I have a GAP tool and was wondering how hard it was to reprogram new one once I get it or if that was even necessary if it is NAS? Thanks a bunch.

It's under the center console towards the rear of it. I was able to undo all the mounting hardware and prop it up with a couple blocks of 2x4 to avoid having to wrestle the entire thing out.

And to program a NAS model, I think all you do with the GAP tool is:

Service/test > RCM Airbag > set normal mode

Thanks for the quick reply. I just heard back from GAP and they said it needed to replaced with a new one which is like $800 at my local dealer. The one you used was used correct?

Hi tejonito!

I have the GAP tool and have been in contact with them (they are wonderful)...however I am a little stumped on how to get at the RCM? The dealer had said they needed to go in behind the instrument panel, but that doesn't sound right to me. Did you have a youtube video or schematic that you followed that shows the location? If you have any help docs that you used, I would be forever grateful if you could point me to them. I have actually replaced my instrument panel, if that's where I'm supposed to go...but I have never had to get under the center console before.

Thanks!

Hey Krock! Do you have the shop manual? You're looking for the section labeled "Restraint Control Module".

edit: The RCM does live under the floor console.
