Passenger side water ingress from A-pillar trim panel
Raining here a bit today and when I hopped in the old girl and did a U-turn out of a driveway, I had a fair quantity of water poor in out of the passenger A-pillar trim. It came out where the plastic access cover is that says airbag. I had not noticed leaking recently prior to this but when I got home I did note the carpet was quite wet in the section close to the door. Foam under the carpet at that front corner saturated and some pooling below.
Sunny one tomorrow so I will try and determine the entry. 7 years ago I did change out the clips and plug the lower guide hole on the exterior A-pillars per the technical bulletin and at the same time replaced both front sunroof drain lines and nipples.
Was a bit of a surprise as I had not noticed leaking/wet carpets before. The usual A-pillar leak that the TB covered was much lower down and this was certainly 3/4 of the ways up based on where it came out. I have not been using the sunroof so not sure what could be blocking the drain up top. Maybe the hose has separated from the top right corner? Will have a better idea tomorrow but curious if anyone else has had water poor out the plastic access cover on the A-pillar before.
I've tape sealed the sunroof to get me through the night if that is it.

Turned out to be issues with the front sunroof drains.
Even though I had switched out to the open nipple before, the passenger side one was plugged. Running some trimmer line down cleared it and after I blew air through it. Looking in the nipple it appears the the nylon insert is protruding down into the elbow and is visible, likely adding some restriction. As I wasn't going to wrestle the CJB today I will have to look at that further another time as it is draining well now.
Drivers side had limited flow. After taking off the inner A-pillar trim I noted that the drain tube was pinched under the outer corner of the headliner, this was causing a restriction in the line. I reformed it best I could at the time and added a couple small zip ties to help it hold the proper shape. Also ran the trimmer line and blew it out. Drivers side floor was dry.
Rears appear to be fine, pulled the nipple out and blew air up the lines. Both nipples were the open style, I had been expecting the pinched ones as I had not done those myself before.
Pulled the front and rear passenger seat so I could get better access at the carpet. The loom channel was full of water front and back along with the foam backing on the front passenger seat carpet soaked. Vacuumed out the water and packed a towel under the front carpet, changing it out several times to absorb what was in the foam. I suspect my parking on an upward incline yesterday evening is what cause water to fill the rear loom channel. Turned in to an 8 hour job, will leave the passenger mat off the floor for a while to help with evaporation of the last bit in the carpet.
Believe the blocked/limited flow front drains caused water to pool in the sunroof gutter channels. Doing a sharp left u-turn caused the water to slosh over the channel into the headliner and out through the a-pillar plastic screw cover. The amount of water though tells me it has been going on for a bit and the heavy rain yesterday likely overflowed when stationary too earlier in the day.
If this happens again with the next rain, I am sure going to feel a bit defeated. Is it possible to change out the seal around the sunroof glass. Mine feels very dry and perhaps a new one would help limit the amount of water the sunroof drains need to vacate in a rain if it is a snugger fit.
