Possible problems w EBS
Hi! I'm new to posting on this forum-although I have been reading it for a while. I have a situation w my 2005 LR3 and I am hoping any of you might be able to point me to the right direction. FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a girl. We live in FL. My LR3 was taking water from the A/C -I thought -and I took it to the dealer(no mechanics that work LR3 in my area. Told them it was taking water on the DRIVER'S side. They unclogged the A/C line- fast forward to the rainy season and my LR3 got soaked- again on the driver's side. I stopped using it- but it sleeps outside (uncovered). I opened it and water came out from my door as it was the Niagara Fall's (front and a little in the back-it was in a bit of an incline). Looked through your post- and found it was the sunroof line that had broken. Ordered one and replaced it (my boyfriend did- but give me credit- I was the one who told him what was wrong). We moved it to the garage- and now it does not move. I put it in drive- it takes it but when I press the accelerator, it feels like it wants to go forward, but something is impeding it. Initially I thought that a cinder Block or something was securing it in place- but nothing. Same things happens when I put it in reverse. I did replace the brake light switch. It gives me the impression as if something in the brake system is stuck. At one point it did make sort of a low screeching noise from the back. My dealer is more than 60 miles away- so if we can get it moving
- it would help us tremendously! Any ideas where to start... already browsed through Bodsy's Brake Bible- but I need to figure out what's wrong w it first!

Have you tried this:
Are there any lights or warnings on the dash for the parking brake? It should automatically disengage, even if you leave it on and put it in drive and hit the gas and it should give you warnings if it isn't working correctly.
It could also be the result of it sitting for a while in the elements. Sometimes the brake pads (either in the EPB or the main brakes) can seize to the rotors/drum with rust if not driven regularly (or in a salty place like near the ocean). If that happens, sometimes just giving it more gas can break it free.
The other potential is the EPB shoes or hardware have come apart inside the drum and are jammed. If this is the case, you do not want to try to drive it as it could cause damage. The only way to know is to take off the rear wheels and the rotors to inspect the EPB shoes and hardware.

Doesn't sound like stuck pads as she said they moved it to the garage... my concern would be all the water that sat on the floor for an extended amount of time. My advice, to start, would be to pull the carpet and get a fan in there to dry out the floor pan. Wiil take days to dry depending on humidity levels and being in Florida, it may take weeks... lol Then inspect carefully for corrosion on the wires or the connections.
