Potential buyer for a 2005 LR3 HSE
Hello everyone,
I have been in the market to get a LR since I had sold my 2004 Disco II a couple of years back. I have done so much work on my Disco II and I knew what I was getting into just because I have been in love with them since I was a kid. So I came across this 05 LR3 that looks like it has been well maintained form inside out. It looks like the vehicle has original 80k miles and I am thinking of getting this vehicle for my wife. I have tried to read as much as can on it but I wanted to get a last check list before purchasing the vehicle. So far as I have owned a Disco II before I have looking on all the major issues it might have similar to its predecessor. Could anybody and everybody give me the hints on what I might have missed in my preliminary inspection. All help is appreciated !

Thanks for that, I have been reading on all of the vehicles and I already owned a 04DiscoII before so they are usually the same issues I am just tyring to see if I am missing anything specific to this year and series before I get into this vehicle for the wife
Nothing horribly wrong with that year.
Does it have a locking rear diff? You should learn that as they tend to sometimes fail faster than a non-locking diff.
It's rare to have them (mine doesn't), so you should be fine

It would be electronic rear locking. So there would be wires going to the rear differential, I feel a lr3 with a electronic diff is worth a bit more than one without. Some people won't buy a 3 unless it has the electronic diff. The big thing would be try to get as many records on the vehicle as you can. The rover could look amazing but if it doesn't have the maintenance records to prove that some of the big ticket items were replaced you are taking a risk. Good luck!
Right....I don't think that that's crazy at all. Sometimes I see HSEs with 18s or SEs with 19s and in those cases it doesn't matter what is underneath because if the owner is buying new rims they may be buying 5. Really a VIN check is the only legit way to know.
