The only real "performance" options are the V8 (much better power and virtually the same economy) and the HD package with a full size spare and an electronic rear diff locker.
The V6 is a Ford motor, so it should be much more reasonable to maintain V8 the Jaguar based V8.
The rear locker is debated, because the traction control and Terrain Response make up for it in raw capability. The arguement for the locker is that it ends up being and easier and smoother ride for the same obstical.
Other than those two mechanical things, most everything else is personal preferance on the luxury side. Heated seat, rear A/C, High end sterio, factory navigation, memory seats, etc.
2005 and 2006 had minor upgrades and are considered less reliable than later cars, but it all basically software and history on an idividual car is just as important.
