Default Question about green unlock icon on nav.

Hi there.

I just bought myself a used LR3 HSE and couldn't be happier.

I took it out yesterday on some dirt trails and turned the dial to mud and raised the height up.

When I did, on the navigation screen, there was 2 green un-locked pad locked icons. 1 was the center lock and the other was at the rear axle.

I'm assuming these means that things are unlocked (duh), but I'm not sure if my LR3 has the center locker and/or rear locker.

Im not sure if this is a requested factory option or that all LR3s have a center/rear locker.

Can anyone clear this up for me? And if all LR3s have these lockers, how do I engaged them?

Thank you... looking forward to sharing mine and joining adventures with you guys.

My LR3 and Challenger

Center locker is standard equip, rear locker is a somewhat rare and highly coveted option! If it shows the padlock on the screen then I'm pretty sure it means you have the HD Package which adds the locker AND a fullsize spare.

I read the manual but did not come across any information on this.

Also, I checked and do not seem to have the full size spare.

How would I engage the lockers? or is it an traumatic thing?

Thanks for replying.

The best way to check is to go underneath your vehicle, take precaution of course and look at your rear diff. If you see a motor like the top image below, you have rear locking diffs. The nav screen shows two locks even if you don't have rear diff locks.

Thank you mx468

This is the top of my rear axle... it was kind of hard to get under there but I do not see any motor on the top there. In this pic I can see the curved metal piece that is similar to the lower pic.

Looks like no rear locker for me

Very capable rig without the locker, just a little more touch on the gas pedal These vehicles from a v6 - v8 already have more horsepower than the D1 & D2, which both were great offroad capable vehicles.

The hardest off road I will ever do is deep mud ruts on rained out trails in the woods...

I should be ok.... maybe get some Maxtrax as back ups lol

The most important thing to do is put some legit tires on it. The LR3 is night and day different when decent tread is under it.

Right now I have some Bridgestone Dueler HL alexa 255/55/19s on there.

They seem to be in good shape and have good reviews from tire rack.

Whats considered a good proper tire for the LR3s?

Maybe when its time to swap in the new ones... maybe some trail, dune or terra grapplers?
