EPB needs to be disassembled down to pieces, knuckle removed, and shop press used.

in other words, not straight forward.

So...I took my 'mechanic stethoscope' to the shop - put the LR3 on the lift with it running and in drive. I could not hear the sound - probably not enough RPMs and no weight on the wheels. However, once I started poking around with the stethoscope, I could hear a very faint version of the noise that has concerned me, coming from the front diff. Now the noise bothers me even more. The only light at the end of this tunnel is that I bought a warranty from my credit union when I bought the vehicle, and it will cover 1/2 of the cost for parts and labor. Which means it will only be...what...$1500? Sonuvva....

The rebuild kit is under $300 if you decide to tackle it.

Great. Looks like I'll need to get someone with a lift to poke around and tell me the same thing, likely. Wonder how long it has. Should I bother trying to change the fluid? Might extend the life a little, right?
