Default Requesting Help on Oil

Well we will be headed from Phoenix to Seattle with a U-haul trailer, and lately the oil has been looking a bit low on the LR3. No big deal I don't think, but I would like to top it off, as well as carry a bottle with us on our trip just incase. But I went to the store today, and I know they supposedly recommend Castrol 5W-30, but my question is whether it is synthetic or conventional. At first I thought it would be conventional, but then my dad thought that since change intervals are 7500, than maybe it is synthetic. In the manual, it says use an SAE 5W/30 oil meeting specification WSS-M2C205-a (GF3) but I didn't see any Castrol 5W-30s that had that on it. Thanks for the help.

Our dealer told us that the normal oil was conventional. You could call and double check, but it's probably a pretty safe bet.

LR3's use conventional or mineral oil. That spec in the manual is a European one that never got translated. Any name brand oil is fine. Personally, I would avoid Castrol because they must have paid a lot for that Little sticker on the oil cap. Ya tink !
Also see this thread as far as intervals, https://landroverforums.com/m_5186/tm.htm

Thanks for the help, looks like we'll probably be changing oil between the scheduled changes.

just run the SAE 5W-30, the SAE is what you are looking for. Castrol is a very good oil, thats what i use in my Discovery 1. I used 10w-40 for my last trip to Las Vegas because of the heat and the long drive. I will prolly stay with the 10w-40 oil changes until the winter comes.
