Default reviving my LR3 / Catalytic converter

Hello to everyone. I am a first time LR3 owner that is looking for an advice. A little background about my vehicle, I bought a non running LR3 and had a used motor installed in it. Since the motor install the only other major maintenance I had to do was replace the suspension air compressor. I really like my LR3 and enjoy driving it on my off days. My kids like the roomy interior also and the comfort of driving it on long distances. My question is, can i go to a local muffler shop to have the catalytic converter replace or is it proprietary? Any information will help and thank you in advance.

A good shop should be able to square you away

^ What he said. Any exhaust shop can take car of it and will be substantially cheaper than any dealer option.

But why do you need it replaced? In this modern era cats dont normally go bad. They did when first brought to market, but all too often perfectly fine units get replaced without need.
