Default Right Rear Wheel Noise

I have been driving recently and noticed around 35 mph to 50 mph I started hearing wheel noise from the right rear.

I jacked the rear of the truck.

RR: no movement when I shake the tire at 3-9 o’clock positions. Slight play when I shake top to bottom (12-6 o’clock). Also slight play at 11-5 and 1-7 positions.

LR: same thing

i try to shift the weight of the truck by going around the turn to see if the noise goes away but hard to tell.

I also ran my hand on the thread and it was relatively smooth may be a slight ridge (tire cupping) but nothing too noticeable.

question: should there be any play top to bottom or at 45 degrees (diagnol) but not 3-9 o’clock (side to side)?

I understand the wheel bearing is an issue with these trucks.

There should be no play. Wheel bearing are issues with all vehicles. The fronts on these seem to last around 100k-120k or about. Rears 175k is about when they start to be questionable. Make sure you check all wheel bearings. Took a truck out on a test run to ID a noise. One front bearing was already done and the noise really sounded like passenger rear according to the owner and even when I drove it, thought so. But we checked them all and found out it was front passenger. Sound can transfer all over the place.

Thanks for the advice. I am assuming you meant “bearings” not “bargains” lol

When I get the chance, I am going to jack up the front and check as well. Will post anything I do as well.
