I'm getting water into the front right side door sill with some water on the carpet.
Here is what I have done to try and find the leak.
1. Removed the outside air intake grill and vent pieces to visually inspect the drain tube end. Looks good and intact.
2. Removed the CJB and inspected the line as much as possible. Looks good and all intact.
3. Removed right side interior A-pillar cover. Drain tube looks good
4. Dropped headliner. Drain line is attached to sunroof tray.
I did notice one screw was missing from the sun visor so most likely the drain line has been replaced before in this 2006 LR2.
After it rains and the car is started and moved the water gushes out from the headliner without the A-pillar installed. Because of this I don't think it is coming from the top of the windshield area. It defiantly seems the water is stored up in the sunroof tray.
I Poured water into 3 locations into the sunroof try with the sunroof open.
Poured where the wind deflector retracts in allows the water to flow through the drain tube and out the side of the fender as it should.
Poured in middle channel and it comes out over the headliner very similar to when the car is first moved after a rain.
Poured in the outside channel and no water comes out. Maybe going to the rear drain tube.
Well first of all, water poured into the spot that dumps right into headliner is not a drain channel, so I would expect that. The "gutter" only runs around the edges. It really sounds like clogged drain tubes, so I would certainly pull the rears and verify they are not clogged. They could be filling up and then sloshing forward after being full. I would also pull and keep the headliner out until resolved, could help make things easier to find. Also the sunroofs have been known to occasionally rust in spots.
There is a TSB for the A-pillar. Water can come through the fastener holes. I'd also check on your windshield installation. Could water be intruding there?
Check the A pillar tsb like was mentioned. Also check that the foam in the passenger side intake vent (in the fender) isn't blocking the drain tube. Mine was, and didn't allow water to drain fast enough from the tube, so it would back up and dump into the headliner and down the pillar.
Also blow compressed air through the drain line, then pour water from a cup and ensure it drains smoothly.
I had water getting entering in on all three most common issues.
Sunroof drain. Shooting air from below solved that issue.
The outside A-pillars had been removed before. Both location parts had broken off on both trim pieces. The remains of duct tape were there but not keeping any water from the top location holes.
And the cowl. Removing the lower glove box and pulling back the carpet will confirm this while pouring water on the windshield.
