Angry Rodent attack

Our truck had been sitting for a few weeks, went to start it and nothing. Crazy light show on dash, flashers on (switch didn't do anything) the letter "E" where the tranny gear indicator is. Long story less long under the bonnet there were a few places a rodent had chewed through. A wiring harness that runs by the radiator to behind the right headlamp (from driver's perspective). I put everything back together and nothing has changed. I don't see any other points of damage. Is it possible all these wires being shorted cooked something-ECM or the like? I'm not sure where to go from here.
cheers

That sucks. Had a rodent get into the headlight of my BMW and didn't know it. It shorted, and the whole right front corner of the burned. I really feel for you.

Possible yes, but you will need a diagnostic tool like a shop has OR a GAP tool.

They can check all the ECM's on the car.

Sorry to hear too, I've had rodents do this before. Might ask TOMR if he's still around for advice, I believe he had a car with very similar issues.

Thanks-I guess we'll have to get it towed up to our guy tomorrow. I did look around under the whole truck, didn't see anything else.

I guess I would try a hard reset on the off chance it could clear the issue.

Always worth a shot to see if your insurance carrier will cover this kind of damage... the cost could be significant.

We don't have comprehensive on this vehicle unfortunately.

What is the hard reset procedure? I did disconnect the battery, is there a particular process?

Once battery is disconnected, connect the positive lead to the neegative with a jumper wire (I use charging cables) for a period of time... I would say 10 minutes. This will drain the system of latent energy stored in capasitors and such and will reset your systems.
