Hey Folks,

Having just bought a 2006 LR3, we are finding we need a little more room with all the kids stuff when we go away for weekends.

I have found a cargo box and now and trying to find what roof racks fit to save buying them to find they dont fit when they arrive.

I have gone from site to site (Thule site included) and i am still confused as to exactly which brands/models fit.

If anyone has any information about this i sure would aprpeciate it.

P.S I know why many friends of mine rave on about Land Rovers now that I own one - boy have i been missing out all these years!

 

Glad you're enjoying that LR3. They are quite amazing, actually. I wont try to advice on roof racks since I don't actually own one yet myself. It's just me and the wife now and so far, we've had plenty of room when we go out. I also live in the San Francisco bay are where all the parking garages are designed with the measurments of a Prius in mind, so getting in with a roof rack would be impossible and I don't want to get into the put on, take off routine as often as we go out.

There are plenty of guys here who own them so I'll let one of them chime inand advice while Ilisten for when I deside to get one myself!

 

i have the thule not shure the modle number just stop at a ski or bike shop they can figure it out it goes in the roof rail whice if more genaric than you would think but get the wind deflector i didnot and it is loud with out it so loud i keep it off unless i need to use it.

 

I was wondering the same thing when i checked out the Yakima and Thule sites. I was browsing thru the Atlantic Britishwebsite and came across a picture of the yakima roof rail set. Once you see the picture it's pretty obvious that they do indeed just snap right into the stock roof rails. With the rails in place you should be able to attach any other accesories i.e. bike rack, cargo basket, etc. Check the link below

I have a 2007 LR3 and a Front Runner roof rack. I think it really depends on what you are willing to spend on the thing.
Many types fit and some are better than others. You did spend a bit to get an LR so if you cheap out on the accessories you might regret that decision.
