i have a problem with my LR3 transmission , i seem to have lost drive and reverse. what is the probable reason? shift solenoids? or something more serious? Any ideas would be great. The motor is a v/8

It would be exceedingly rare for an issue with the TCM or solenoids to appear out of nowhere, an issue with either of those would present with trouble codes, dash faults, or long simmering driving issues. Assuming none the above, I would suggest the most likely culprit is the shifter linkage. The linkage is known to have a bushing that will, over time, make shifting into drive difficult or impossible. The other possibility is that the linkage has loosened at the connection to the transmission and is no longer calibrated or may not even be articulating the transmission link. This would be located at the same spot as the bushing, but is a different problem. These are under the car, but outside of the transmission.

A search of the forum will lead to documented examples of this and the repair procedure.

With that vague a description it could be anything, very first thing to check is the fluid level then check for any error codes.
