Sensor alarm will not shut off
My reverse sensor alarm stays (solid tone, no beeping) on till I put vehicle in drive and reach 10 mph. It did not do this at first. Is there a way to fix this. it is annoying when backing out and leaving driveway with alarm on for 30 seconds. it can be manually cut off by the button but I don't think I should have to do this every time I back up.
Most likely you have a back up sensor gone bad. If you turn the ignition on and not start it. Then put it in reverse and put your year to each sensor you will here the harmonic buzzing on all the working sensors. the sensor that is not working will have no sound at all. Having a problem with the front sensor can also cause a faillure for the the back up senors.
mud dirt or snow building up on the sensor can cause the alarm, happens all the time after after backing into a snow bank to load a snowmobile into a pick-up. I know it's not a pick-up, but check the sensor for any obstructions. Also, high pressure car wash stations can damage the sensors, but leave no visible damage. Unfortunately all this "make life simple" technology comes at a high cost of repair.
