Default Setting up an original navigation system to my LR3 SE 2006 Model

Hello - I was wondering if someone can help in sharing information about how I can add a navigation screen to my LR3 Mod 2006 that comes without a screen. I bought the original screen and do not know how to install it and what type of wires and additional hardwares I would need. Please help.

I have played with many of these NAV systems, and what you propose is a much bigger job than just adding the display. The short version is, you need a donor vehicle.
The dash you have has that pocket molded in place, you could swap dash pads, or cut yours.
The NAV is all run by a DVD based unit under the driver's seat (in North America)
The Bluetooth module is in the cargo area (if you don't have now)
The Amplifier for Logic 7 is under the passenger's seat.
The radio has to be the NAV capable model, as it actually transmits the LVDS video signals, even though it has no display.
Now for the topper, ALL of these items have to talk to the instrument cluster over a fiber optic MOST network.

That is why I recommend a nice aftermarket radio with Apple Carplay / Android Auto.

There are some chinese "radios" that will fill the hole in the upper dash,
but they just send audio to the AUX port you have now. If you just want a display with some Android features, that is an option.
I prefer to just dump all the factory audio gear, and install what I sell everyday!

Easier just tossing in a LR4 Nav unit, but even then there is some work. First, you need to be sure your vehicle has the MOST network, thats the orange fiber optic network. Without it, it will never work. Easiest way to check is to look at the amp under the passenger seat for the orange fiber cables. If the amp does not have those, then you lack the network. Second, you would need a GPS antenna. I have not tested it, but I think most aftermarket antenna may work just fine. You would have to mount it some place with a clear signal. On top the third brake light is a good bet since drilling its topside results in a direct path inside the gate where you can run wiring into the main body - lots of work but not hard. You also need to pull ABS signal for the unit, or it will not work right. So you need to run a wire for that, I think into the engine bay since you will lack the Nav DVD drive under the driver seat. This is all a lot easier if one had the original LR3 nav unit and just upgraded.

Thank you for the support provided. I know it is not easy but good that it is doable. I am a bit confused here therefore, I would highly appreciate if someone can list for me the required wires in details with some pics of the MOST network and other required hardwares if possible. Thank you in advance and much appreciated.

I'd try the UK site (disco3.co.uk) as a few have tried. Personally - and please take no offence - I think adding a LR3 media screen to a LR3 that isn't wired for it is a colossal and slowly-unfolding act of self-harm. There are so many factors to consider and possible hiccups along the way, and at the end of the process - IF you're successful and haven't just torched the vehicle by that point out of spite - you'll be the proud owner of an out-of-date satnav system that even when launched was so crap it was barely useable, with a touchscreen that almost needs physical blows to register on it. And, by the way, the most recent nat updates are (I think) 2009 with maybe some pirate versions available that are a little newer.

Also, if you budgeted about $500 for an IID tool, congratulations: you missed making your second mistake!

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavour!!!

Would be far easier to fit one of the aliexpress android units that fit in the space where the factory screens go, you also get more options for mapping programs with updated maps plus bluetooth music and phone connectivity.

Is the D4 unit standalone , could you add inputs without wiring it into the system ?

Its standalone, map data is on a hard drive internal to the display unit itself. So you just need power, GPS, speedo reading. Its basically heavily MOST dependent and does not touch CAN Bus, which is why it works in the first place. If it needed CAN, then no way since the D4 issues a different CAN bus data setup. And what ya mean by inputs?
