Default Snow and best setting??

Hi all! I have a Disco 3 TDV6.
Well here in Sweden we was taken by surprise, the snow came and with that ice and slippery roads of course! Now what would be the best setting considering I have summer tires ( changing to stud-tires in a week)
would it be "Low" or the snow-setting using the little wheel next to the Low setting?...anybody?

thanks beforehand!

I think standard is fine, really, if driving in normal built up areas. The gas pedal has more positions than on and off…😂

You can try the Grass-Gravel-Snow terrain response if you have trouble getting moving. In high range it starts with second gear and response to gas pedal is slightly more hesitant rather than immediate.

I'm now in my 4th or 5th year of driving all year round with traction tires (Pirelli Scorpion AT+) and I rarely bother with any programs. I had studded tires before that. Studs are better on ice, they cut down on braking distances for sure.

There is very little you can do if you’re having summer tires in the winter, however, except have situational awareness and assume braking distances are long. And if driving into a curve the possibility of going in the direction of the tangent.

Grass-gravel-snow works fine, but the LR3 is the best vehicle I've ever driven on ice and snow. Better tires do help more than terrain response.

I do miss studded tires. When we lived in Alaska we had a set of Hankook RW11 winter ipikes studded up on a Mercedes ML320 and those tires stuck to the road like a velcro cat. When we moved to Michigan I had to pull the studs, not allowed here, but those tires still worked well enough to put a set on my LR3. When we got the other LR3 for the wife, there were none to be found so we settled for Blizzaks and they were not as good as the Hankooks. Unfortunately the RW11's don't seem to be available any more.
But yeah, studs on ice. Studs work so well that I used to stud my motorcycle tires and ride through the winter. Some people complain that they damage roads, I was not so sure they really did. They definitely keep you out of the body shop.

I think you’re allowed to drive with 3PMSF marked tires over there just like in rest of EU nowadays. M+S isn’t sufficient anymore, however.

I recall the long lines at the tire shop on the first snow day. I always tried to keep a set of winter tires handy for that reason. I'd have thought the Nordic countries might have snow already....it's snowing here. Not much but more coming. I'm ready!

I would also strongly suggest using Lo-Range if you will be traveling on surface streets at speeds less than 30-35 MPH (~55 kilometers per hour). The reason I suggest this is the engine braking. You really don't need to touch the brakes if you're in Lo. Perhaps with the Diesel engine it's less of an issue but with the Petrol engine it really helps. I also turn HDC off.

We got some good snow here and I've tried it with normal and GGS, and GGS dumbs down the throttle to the point of severe annoyance. I do now remember why I loved this beast in the snow, better than the 6G bronco by far.
