Default So if it ain't the alternator

06 Land Rover LR3 - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle automotive sale (craigslist.org)
which has been replaced, what else causes the battery to drain flat?
In my experience, and I've had 2 LR3's do this, one of them twice , the diodes in the alternator seem to short out and they drain the battery flattter than flat overnight. Replacing the altternator has been the fix.
Even though I know it's wrong I did see the listing and that fat squirrel is spinning that cage in my head. I would say way overpriced though, $2K might be more realistic given it probably needs a $1000 worth of tires and whatever other electrical wickedry gone wrong.

Yeah... thats a bit up there on price for something that needs work. And probably work beyond the alternator. Keep in mine the main fuse can also get corrosion which can lead to power issues/poor charging. Its very often overlooked. Of course a relay that is stuck closed (operating) position could mean the battery is drained by other means. Really hard to diagnose for certain, but if you want it you could narrow it down. Pull fuses, look for drains on circuit, etc. Can be done and can be fixed I am sure.

Yeah, sat for 2 years? Could be all sorts of issues that need to be addressed. Also, I see it is the V6 - the V8 would be preferable. And if the 'normal' post-100k work has not yet been done, the cost of repairs will add up quickly (front lower control arms, various air suspension components, etc).
