So, just how bad can I break it anyway?

Default So, just how bad can I break it anyway?

I am looking at a 2006 SE. I am not asking for the usual things for purchase inspection, I have done this a few times, so I know what I am looking at mechanically.

What I want to know is....... What are my changes of screwing up a BCU re-flash to the 07+ specs?
I have an 07 now and like the clock in the dash and the 3 flash turn signal and would want that on the 06.

My blue-tooth re-flash took 41 minutes, and I had no concerns as it was just the phone. This time I could create a nice 6300 lb paperweight.

Anything in particular I should worry about?

My 06 does those things already. Is that not normal?

My 06 does not have those things (clock in dash, short duration lane-change signals). Clock in dash would be nice.

Strange my 06 has both. Wonder if mine was a late build date. If I remember I'll look tomorrow.

Yes, I understand that it will.

As I said at first, the 2006 I am looking at does not have the 07 update. If I buy the car, it will need it. I have made changes to the CCF, and re-flashed the blue tooth, but I am nervous with the BCU.

I have an aux battery on my 07, and it seems to have enough juice in the batteries for the CCF changes and the blue tooth, but the new one only has one battery, so I will start my current 07 and run jumper cables to the 06 as I do the BCU re-flash.

As far as why some have it and some don't, the one with it were probably updated at the dealer (for a charge of course) at some point in the past.

Just wondered if it was straight forward or if there was a VIN limitation or something strange.

If I buy the car I will let you know about the outcome.

Jeff

Is a battery charger not enough to keep the battery up while doing a flash?

GAP section 2.7.2 page 43 states: Battery chargers are to be avoided due to poor line regulation.

So, I use the other car with jumper cables.

I use a snap on charger that has a “flash reprogramming” setting and keeps a clean 14.2 volts
