Default Sometimes stalls at idle; RPMs rev too

I have an '05 SE. 191,000 miles. Sometimes the car idles erratic and will oscillate until the car stalls at a stoplight. I have cleaned to MAF sensor, this did not help. The RPMs have also started surging a bit when I am at highway speeds (where I can notice it). If I drive at a constant speed the RPMs surge or pulse a bit.

Any ideas on what to check or replace?

Thanks
Christian

I would start by cleaning the throttle body - free and easy to do
Then perform a TB adaptation (if you have a diagnostic tool that can do that)

No CEL/codes I assume?

Thanks. I will clean the throttle body this weekend. What is a TB adaptation? I have a friend with two Land Rover electronic tools, is the adaptation just a software item?

What diagnostic tool is preferred?

I use the Gap IIDtool - other (good, LR-specific) tools may likely perform a similar function
Check with your friend about the capabilities of his tools

TB Adaptation Reset is a process that zeroes out any "learned" positioning
In case yours is out of whack, or the computer expects a position or setting different from actual
