Starter motor issue on 2008 LR3
Does anyone know a quick and easy way to get to the starter motor? I need to find out if I have a loose or corroded connection. Having issues starting my Beast ( can take up to 15 attempts to turn over). Hoping it's just a loose connection. Dealership is quite a bit away and no-one around here really works on them. If anyone has any insight , or has had a similar issue , I would be appreciative of some advice.

I bet you're going to need a new starter, I had the same problem with mine. You need to take off the belly pan, take off the passenger wheel, take off a metal guard in the wheelwell, there are then like 3 heat shields that need to come off. It's kind of a pain just to see the connections.
If it's like mine - which was exactly as OP described, the starter itself makes a "jump" but as the internal solenoid bounces off its' contacts, it gives up and requires you to "re-start" with key.
Again and again and again.
Mine was REALLY bad about two weeks ago. Thought she was done. Now it's been perfect since then, and the really weird thing is that it's been in the teens and single digit temps (when its usually worst!)
I think once the contacts get even slightly cleaned of carbon they're fine again.
Frustrating how much work is required to fix such a stupid problem. I think napa sells a quality starter for super cheap (I even talked to one of the NAPA alternator/starter guys and he said they meet all the OE specs for submersion, draining, etc.. and most of the time are made in the same factory.)

I had the same issue you are talking about. After much debate I finally decided to just get a new starter and I am very glad that I did. You can get a re-manufactured starter for around $120 with core return. Took about 3-4 hours and that was the first time I had ever attempted the job. Biggest pain was the tight spaces (a gear wrench would have made things really much easier).
