Hi my beloved 3 was nearly stolen last week and I stupidly attempted to stop the idiots and took a beating but managed to keep hold of key but they took fob. Can anyone tell me easiest and cheapest solution as also need to replace every window apart from windscreen as they used machete to smash the windows before driving off. Any help would be gratefully appreciated as 60 today and missing my Disco

 

Sorry to hear about your close call. I purchased 2 key fobs with key blades from amazon for like 25 bucks each and programed them with my scan tool worked great! Hardest part was getting a locksmith to cut the key blanks for a reasonable price. Since you have to program all the keys at the same time, even keys already programmed, I'm thinking the old key fob would not work after doing that with new fobs. Maybe others on the forum will know the answer to that ...

 

I hope your not hurt and are feeling okay. I wish you a well recovery and hopefully smooth and cheap replacement of broken windows. But yes, when you reprogram key(s) it deletes the keys you don't reprogram in the moment. Meaning you need to reprogram the new and original key at the same time. The fob they took will be useless after you reprogram them. BUT you will need a GAP tool ($$$ to buy, $ to borrow from a friend) to complete the process. I don't know if you have to purchase a license for your car but if you do be prepared to spend around $80 if I remember correctly.

 

you can also use the 2023 or 2024 LAUNCH X431 Elite for Land Rover and Jaguar to reprogram Keys and read all the module codes. It does most of the adaptations as well. It however does not allow you to edit the CCF file or flash modules like the GAP tool does. That said you should be able to find a 2023 version for around 100 bucks US and the 2024 on amazon for 179, saves you a little money....
