Exclamation Suspension Compressor Overheated

Hello all,
My LR3 2008 got air leak from one small O-Ring in the air dryer, I fixed it and leak arrested. When I start it back the car start raising up to the normal height, then the compressor overheated and created smoke little. I stopped it and after mints I run it again, but it is still getting hot but, when it fill up the system it stopped and heat reduced. So, whenever it runs i got overheated and creates smoke.I don not want to damage the whole compressor, so what could be the reason behind? Dose any filter could blocked the flow of air? and do I need to replace any filter or make any inspection? if yes, where are they? dose the valve block can be the reason?
it is doing 341K KM at the clock

Regards
Ali

When you fixed the leak, did you remove the compressor, remove the dryer cap, remove old desiccant and replace with new, and also at least replaced the o-rings and springs?
There is a simple tune-up set for this, I believe it was $35 for my basic kit, and another $10 for desiccant - but you can buy ones that also include more items like a new cap, and desiccant. I also bought a new metal cap to fix my old cracked one.

Has this ever been done?

I highly recommend this service - the old desiccant turns to dust and clogs the filter and then travels to the front and rear air blocks, causing them to allow the suspension to lower when parked overnight.

After you rebuild the compressor, wait a few weeks and then open up and clean out your valve blocks (if your LR3 lowers overnight) - if cleaning does not help, then consider replacing. I have had good luck with cleaning the o-rings and have not had to replace the whole block yet.

Search for more - there is a lot of info about these procedures.

Doug thanks for your replay. appreciated.

I removed the compressor and installed new
exhaust valve kit along with desiccant o-ring (top side not in the two lines side). Today i have read some posts, and i understand that I have to do maintenance OR replace the desiccant as well, to allow the air flow perfectly. I am using my LR in very dry weather where the humidity is too less, anyhow will work in the desiccant.
i did not touch on the Valve block so far.
I will go back and do all the needed checks and come back to you with the results.

Regards,

My LR3 has lived its life in SoCal - also very dry.
Age - not humidity - did the old desiccant in.

If you did not fully open the dryer to see the beads, I think you will find half of them turned to dust - which clogs the little filter paper.
It is not hard work, just fiddly.

Clean everything well, blow out filter paper, and replace the beads with new.
Looking forward to the update.
