Default Time for new tires...

...to replace my aging (beloved) MT/Rs, in the 275/65R18 size.

Candidates:

Cooper Discoverer STT Pro
Cooper Discoverer MTP
General Grabber X3

Does anyone have any experience and opinions?

Thanks in advance.

That's weird how your post looks, but I have to admit I really like the looks of the Cooper Discoverer MTP

Yeah that was weird...I fixed it.

I can't decide, man. I like the MTP and it is supposed to be more aggressive than the STT Pro but I don't know if that's what my eyes tell me when I look at the tread pattern. I guess I'd have to look at tread depth and gap between blocks and all that, too. Probably be good to see each in-person.

....but the Grabber looks kinda like the MT/R, but more like a Toyo Open Country, and the reviews on them are good.

Thank you for your feedback.

I have looked at the Grabber and I like the look as well. I guess the real concerns for me are wear. I DD mine and in the next 2 months it will be going to Romp in Maine, 2200 miles and SCARR in Texas 2500 miles so I need something that has a chance of lasting.

The MTP looks sexy to me though... Might just go with Atturo MT's again they were wearing like Iron on my DII

I gotta see them all in-person. That will probably be the clincher. Wear is not a concern for me at all. I put about 3500 miles a year on my Rover, total. ...and half the year it's sitting on the Nokian Hakkas I have on my 19s.

11k since August, it is oddly difficult around here to find MT's to look at in person

So that's an average of about 20k per year. Yeah you need a good wearing tire.

I think this year I will likely push closer to 25k if I make all the events I have planned

Looks like the MTP is only a 2-ply sidewall. That rules it out, unfortunately, because I was coming around to that tread design. I am going to double-check because the sidewall varies from size to size. If I find out any new info I'll update.

Right now though it's down to an in-person comparison - side-by-side - between the Grabber and the STT Pro.
