Default Tires for HSE 19 inch rims?

Recently bought an '08 HSE. Time for tires. I have looked around and many of the past posts relate more closely to the 18 inch rims. I have the 19. Assuming I keep the 19 inch, what tires do you recommend? I want snow performance, but I am not buying snow tires at this time. Need good all road, a touch of noise is OK. Minimal off road. What are people recommending? Ideally from folks who live in the northern or mountain climate (wet, snow, ice, etc). Thanks.

I'm extremely happy so far with my tires but they may be a bit noisy. Of course they may not with how much quieter the LR3 is over the DII. There are also a couple of AT style options from Goodyear with the AT kevlar and the duratrac. I don't care for most Goodyear tires though so.... Anyway here is the link to my write up on them.

Just finished another 700 mile road trip on them as well. I live on the North side of Chicago so I know snow

Yeah I'm just not sure. If the BF Goodrich A/T comes in that size that would be a good choice. The Toyo Open Country A/T would as well. I put ~80,000 miles on my Michelin Synchrones on the 19s (you read that correctly) but they were crap in the snow. ...that is, crap compared to my Nokian Hakkapeliittas, but you don't want a snow tire.

Having done snow runs side-by-side with trucks set up almost identical to mine but running BFG ATs (the older one, not the new KO2) I can say I am not impressed with their snow performance. The new KO2 on the other hand is supposed to be MUCH better in the snow.

But since the OP said he wasn't doing much off-road work I think the KO2 is a bit overkill.

Probably the best AT tire in the snow is the Goodyear Duratrac, but again a little overkill for a mostly street driven truck.

I don't know if either is available in a 19 without researching. Both would come with a notable mileage penalty vs a stock type M&S tire.

Heck, around here you can usually find somebody all but giving away the 19s as we all move down to the 18" wheel for a better off-road tire selection. I sold 5 19s w/brand new generic M&S (Kuhmo?) tires for I think $250 last year. I think another of our club members has his 19s on our site for next to nothing as well. Of course that's not much help unless you're in California, and I have no idea what sort of snow performance they might have.

The choices are very limited, especially for your criteria.
Look at the Cooper Zeon

Zeons were decent in the snow when I ran them...to a point. For city streets with snow they are fine. Deep snow and they start to wilt.

Cooper no longer shows a 19" size for the Zeon. Bummer, as that would have been a good choice. Maybe there are still some in-stock somewhere? Of course buying an orphan tire means trouble if you damage one.

Cooper makes another A/T that is similar to the Zeon; my neighbor has them on his X-Terra. I don't recall the name or if they come in the 19" size that the LR3 runs.

If you use Cooper's site to check your LR3 against their offerings, they show none.
If you look at the Zeon product page, they list the 255/55R19
I'd be very surprised if they discontinued this size. Check with them to verify, but I think it's still a current offering.

Edit: I re-read your OP - definitely look in to the DuraTracs based on your criteria. Prolly overkill, but gets you what you're asking for.
