Default traffic alert on factory nav system

It is a 2007 LR3 HSE with the 6 CD control head factory nav screen and factoy blue tooth,
What option are there to add traffic info to the system. Will the updateing the nav system to the LR4 that allows for data updates also allow traffic from some source other than Sirius radio?
Will I need to custom fit an appropriately sized after market unit? I hate giving up on the 4X4 screen.

Any specific model number of LR replacement parts that can provide traffic would be my first choice followed by a large sized Garmin that could be fitted in the dash where I will be emoving the factory nav system.

Oh, can I remove the nav screen and still have other things work correct fly?

Sorry for all the questions but they are interconnected.

I do not want to use my cell phone or some app on my cell phone to navigate with. 1. I want a bigger screen. And 2. Dispute installing a cell phone booster amp the the factory cell phone antenna, there are times I am out of cell coverage and those neat little cell phone apps don't help me at all.

Jeff

Default Options are some sort of Goggle device.

The short answer is no, you cannot get traffic updates in any version of the LR3 system and I doubt it with the LR4 either.

The link below is to a number of files related to the MOST, the optical buss that drives the infortainment system. Once you understand how the system operates, you will discover that your 3 pretty much needs all the pieces - remove something and you loose your clock, the radio, the bluetooth etc.

The HSE entertainment system has an amp that takes the radio signal via optical down to the amp. In brief, the speaker wires only go the amp and not back up to the radio head.

Also hooking up the inglass antennas to any sort of alternative system is not a task I would enjoy attempting.

Default bbyer

Thanks, that is what I was afraid of. We'll that makes the choice simple. Since it has to stay, I might as well add the parts to get a back up camera and let my daughter give me direction from her google maps.

Default back up camera a useful addition

I find my aftermarket backup camera automatically playing thru the factory screen is a real nice addition.

The camera display does not replace your mirrors for backing up but for backing into parking stalls, or parallel parking, it is a real plus.

Default Bluetooth Tune Link

Get this Tunelink Auto Bluetooth in Car Stereo Wireless Adapter for iPhone Black | eBay and use your smartphone for your nav. This is probaly the best buy I got for my LR3. it connects your phone via bluetooth to your radio. Plug-and-play.

Default No cell phones

As I said in the first post, I can be out of cellphone range so any option using a cellphone will not work. I will keep looking.

Thanks for all the help
