Default Trailer Towing

I have a 2006 LR3 with the V8 and am thinking I might use it to tow my travel trailer with it. The trailer weights about 4,600 lbs empty.
Just want to see if anyone is using one of these units as a tow vehicle? If so do you have to add a trans cooler or anything else to ensure the drive line holds up?
I have a equalizer hitch setup for my truck, so would use that with the LR3. Will the equalizer hitch effect the air suspension at all?
Seems to have good power when not towing, so I suspect it would handle the weight Ok

I think an equaliser is not any good on a LR3 as the air suspension should adjust its level.

The weight you are looking at is fine. The bigger question is how long is it. You can certainly get some tail wagging the dog going.

The trailer is 26' long and that's why I use the equalizer hitch even when I'm towing with the truck, which is a Silverado dually 4x4. Don't want the tail wagging the dog for sure.

You will want to check the owners manual on the use of weight distribution hitches I believe it recommends against using them with the EAS. Even with sway control my 24’ travel trailer was enough that I never towed it again with the LR3. Passing semi’s were a white knuckle event. Power was good though

A lot of new trailers/caravans have a electronic sway control fitted on the trailer/caravan - that might be a better solution. Thought the Silverado came with sway control fitted

Looked in the owners manual and they do not recommend using a equalizer hitch on the LR3, so I guess I will be using the Silverado for towing for now. Thanks for everyone's input.
