Default Transfer case service

Keep reading conflicting recommendations on fluid for the transfer case on my 2007 LR3.

I was planning on using Royal Purple Synchromax. This work?

For capacity I’m getting 1.5 US quarts. Correct?

Also, how important is it to install new drain/fill plugs and washers? I was hoping to do the service this weekend, but that’s probably a deal breaker.

Syncromax is fine, no need for new plug/washer, can’t remeber exact amount but I believe less than 2 quarts

Thanks.

Is the Royal Purple as good/better than the LR labeled fluid for the transfer case, or am I better off getting the factory stuff?

At one point there was no LR Tcase fluid available from the dealer. The parts manager told me they use Syncromax when genuine is not on the shelf.

I’m no fluids expert, so go with your gut.

I used IYK500010 from autohausaz dot com ($31/ea)
good enough price for OEM "peace of mind" for me

takes 1.5l - easy DIY job, re-used the hardware

Thanks, y’all. I ordered the service kit from Atlantic British; 2qts of fluid, 2 plugs, and 2 washers.
