so I recently had my local mechanic do the transmission filter conversion upgrade kit from Atlantic British. Installation was a bit of a pain but went ok. But now I’m getting transmission oil drip. Mechanic is saying that it’s from the sump pan gasket. He says that the bolts are tight but that the gasket is silicon and way too thin.
did anyone else have this problem and is there another thicker gasket I buy that works with the kit? Any advice on this?

That makes no sense. The gasket thickness should not be an issue. The only potential issue could be they re-used the original bolts, which usually cracks the casting because they bottom out. But then I would expect a pretty big leak.... But go under and make sure all the pan bolts are new and take pics.
This shows plastic pan, but I followed this for my metal pan with new bolts.
I did not buy from AB but from the website above, when they offered genuine ZF kits.
I think cleaning the threads is just a precaution, but not a necessity. I have never done it and those I know personally and done conversions have not.
The mechanic said the kit came with a paper gasket, that it was really hard to place and that’s what the leak is from. From the kit photo, the gasket doesn’t look like paper. I ordered another gasket hoping it’s silicone.
what’s the meta gasket? I’ll do some searching on that.
I use the aluminum gaskets with the rubber edge also. Cheap and better than the paper. Call AB, but the product page does not mention the gasket type. All the kits I have seen come with paper type, which is why I bought a bunch of metal ones to keep in stock for conversions.
