Transmission fluid change question
I purchased a kit from Atlantic British that included a steal pan, filter, screws and OIL. I paid my mechanic to install it.
It went without issue and shifting is even smoother than before.
My question is does ALL the tranny oil drain out or is some left in it like in areas that for some reason don't gravity feed out when the pan is removed.

So the entire transmission holds
3 + 7 (what i got in the kit) quarts?
10 quarts. So I only changed out 70 percent.
Where is the remaining 3 quarts at?
Did I loose any capacity switching to the metal pan?

In the torque converter and various other “nooks and crannies”.
I think they are the same capacity.
I have yet to shut down the naysayers and fill each pan and filter combo with fluid on the bench and compare the amounts.

You can always do a standard refill now that you have a new filter. That will knock down the old even more. I don't understand why these vehicles dont have a torque convertor drain plug.

Another thing is why do they make a drain plug in such a way that you can't remove it cold and check the level?
I read people pull that plug and they get dowsed with fluids causing them to believe its over filled.
So cold the level is actually above the hole. I wonder how far above the hole the fluid is with engine off and at room temp. Like 70 deg F?
So then you run it so the fluid gets pumped out and into the rest of the tranny which lowers the level so its at the bottom of the fill plug. But wait too long and it heats up and expands which makes the level rise giving the impression that you have enough but you really have too little because its too hot.
How about just make the fill hole higher up so you can check it an room temp and not worry about burning your arms on pipes etc.
