My LR3 radio does not work. It turns on and off and tunes but no volume, or volume control. And the NAV screen is on the Green oval. I put in a new amp that appears to work. It throws fiber optic signal for about 30s until it quits, which is more than the old amp did.
Also replaced the dvd drive under the drivers seat, no change. I tried to put a fiber optic looper in place of the bluetooth module in the passenger, rear quarter panel, but I don't have that.
I have the same issue, but sometimes it magically works between 5 minutes to 2 hours after starting the engine. My nav unit has been broken for over 10 years so can't comment on that. Haven't changed the amp or tried to fix it yet. Way down on the to fix list.
I would check the continuity of the wire harnesses in between the Nav unit and the DVD player under the driver's (US) seat. It's not all direct cabling, there's one spot on the bottom of the passenger's (US) side A pillar in the footwell where there are connectors joining the Nav wiring with the DVD box, and I have had one of those connectors fail. In particular the connector that failed for me was a black 12-wire (I think it was a 12-wire, I replaced it with one off Amazon) connector.
If the dash nav unit just shows a logo, you have a break in the fiber loop and yes that can mean another bad amp. The fiber loop must be 100% complete. I assume you put a used one in, so you cant rule it out. For testing you can pop apart the fiber connector at the amp and hold the two ends together OR pick up a MOST bypass like this:
Turns out I had taken a pic of the connector when I pulled it, and water-induced corrosion was immediately revealed (you can see the green crud on the pins). This is connector that was a problem for me, US passenger side footwell.
I just replaced it with a 12-wire pigtail connector (male and female, with wire leads attached) I got off Amazon, and just soldered it in place. If you troubleshoot it down to a particular wire (I would start with the black grounds), you could just bypass the connector by soldering in a new wire around the connector. While you would lose the 'disconnect' feature of the connector, the connector isn't something that would regularly be disconnected.
Well I'm not sure if this will fix the problem but it must be addressed. The entire harness under the US passenger side is all corroded and crumbly from years of a pillar leakage. I'm going to address the leak, dry out the carpet and padding and rewire it all with fresh wire all the way and delete the connector. Hopefully it resolves my issue, but needs addressed regardless.
Do that ASAP. There's a computer module there (can't remember which one) and essential wires that run through that channel and at worst it can leave you stranded.
