Default Two problems at once.

Good morning All.
Just picked up my LR3 from long term parking place by the Airport after a 10 day vacation and two things happened at once. gear shift comes out of P into Neutral without pressing the button on the ****, That happened to me twice on the way home and also the rear upper hatch does not open. I am able to press Lock and lock buttons o the console and it pops, but when pressing the mechanism under rear handle nothing happens, can't hear anything. I don't think, they both related, but who knows She's an old Lady...
What do you guys think...typical gear pivot issue on first problem or something else needs to be addressed..stuck latches on second problem or rubberized button caput ? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your button is done. Not sending a signal.

For the shifter, no idea.

I have pulled the rubber membrane and button assembly from the upper gate. Lots of oxidation on the casing and the whole flap that moves up touching the microswitch is way too worn and loose, definitely needs replacing.I have ordered a new aftermarket from A..zon. As a temporary fix, I cleaned the sanded entire assembly and was able to put it back to work until new unit arrives. I guess is wear and tear item. As for a transmission issue, I suspect a shifter pivot being seized, again, common issue finally cough up with me and replacement parts has been ordered. Should be an easy fix.

I was going to ask if the shifter is hard to move. Mine was when I first got it and I did order a new shifter kit of wear parts. But on advice, I simply prayed it down with lubricant and have not had an issue since. I still have not installed the parts either.

I have lubricated Shifter level 9 years a go when this problem surfaced on Disco forum over the Pond. Since then it was all dandy, but my recent lack of driving did not help at all. Ordered new part kit from AB, but the level alone is out of stock as they had a sale over Labor Day and ran out of it.

I spray the 07 down about every oil change with silicone lube keeps it happy. The 06 slides so freely I occasionally wonder if it is still connected.

Fricking Amazon...seller assured that rear tailgate microswitch assembly fits lr3 and lr4 but when part arrived today it clearly looks that lr4 switch electrical connector is wider than mine and will not fit. to an existing male connector.I will have to send it back, what a shame....

I would never trust a description on Amazon or any place, I always cross-reference the part numbers I am looking for. Which admittedly is a pain given how often LR changes them.
