Upper Tailgate on the LR3..not the usual suspects

Upper Tailgate on the LR3..not the usual suspects
Hi all,
Just been crawling around the back of my LR3 2006 in attempt to open a closed Tailgate. Nothing unusual about that !!I have successfully repaired the common actuator problem before.But today when I stripped off the carpet and trim to reveal actuator ,I discovered the cable wire has come away from the Tailgate lock /striker side.So nothing to 'pull on "to open the upper Tailgate. How can the Upper tailgate be opened in this circumstance???I'd appreciate some advice and direction. Thanks.
