Default V6 reliability

Hey guys!
looking into purchasing a 2006 LR3 V6 with 107k miles. Already know about the usual things to check but was wondering on the V6 motor reliability. At that mileage are they pretty robust or have any tendency to fail? Just looking for some info on it before the purchase. Thank you!

Default My experience

Timing chain guides let go at 136k on mine. Totaled the motor. Mechanic had warned prior owner as the chain was making noise. Other than that....no other real issues. Power is ok, meaning sufficient. MPG is consistently around 15-18. Maybe 20 if you really try on the freeway.
For the right price, I’d consider a V6 again...but would likely lean towards an HSE V8.

It's a reliable engine except for the damn cam chain guides and tensioners. They WILL need replacing at some point. Mine went at 145K. I doubt the one your looking at has had them replaced at 107k. Ford wonderfully designed this engine to where you have to pull the engine from the vehicle to do the rear guide assembly. This is the basically same engine (4.0L SOHC) used in the Ford Explorers, etc. with some intake and control differences. Here is an image of where my V6 used to be. Now it's on an engine stand in the garage... Would I buy another? Probably not, because I like to do my own repairs if possible. Otherwise plan on 1K plus to have someone do it for you.
