Default Weld a broken key

Hi All-
I have a 2005 LR3 and when I purchased it I was lucky enough to get two keys. The problem is that both keys are broken where the key meets the base and the previous owner super glued them. Now they work but won't fold in. Since I have two I was thinking of pulling the fob apart ( I ordered a new plastic fob already ) and welding the two metal parts together. Now before I do this has anyone ever done this with success? Also what are the keys made of? If anyone has recommendations please let me know. Thanks for looking and a bigger thanks to anyone with info.

Nice to meet you Schwaggy. Outland motors helped me with the mods and have become friends.
I did find out that most car keys are made of brass/alloy mix with a chrome coating so brazing is the way to go. I don't know much in that area and read that it isn't the strongest. So I don't know where to go but maybe JB weld and a little grinding will work.

bbyer has mentioned on the forum a couple of times that you can order just the key for around 60 bucks, it takes a while.. I believe he posted the part number recently.

here you go, I found it for you..
