Default What cross bar system do you have?

I'm looking for simple cross bars for my rooftop tent - not looking for a big safari rack. The stock ones (shown below) only have a 165 lb load capacity so I'm wondering what people are using.

Easiest/cheapest would be to bolt some Unistrut to your rails?

I am 30% into a DIY Prinsu style rack using 80-20 which is probably the next cheapest but more involved.

We have the factory bars on one of our rovers and Front Runner roof rack on the others. Most of those Safari type racks are big and bulky for a reason.

What are you planning to put up there? What load range are you planning for? Front Runner advertised 600 lb capability but warns that the this is WAY beyond what the vehicle can utilize.

Hope this helps
Jeff

I bought these on Amazon for $239 CDN last year, mounted my Autohome RTT on them and did a 42 day road trip as well as several offroad trips. No issues. I have them for sale at $180 as I bought a full length Front Runner rack so that I could carry extra gas up there rather than inside.

No worse than my RTT on the Front Runner rack. When i first mounted the tent it was sitting almost flush with the side rails and at 50kph the whistling was horrible. I had to space the tent up higher to allow me to use FR awning brackets and that killed the whistling. Now I just here some wind noise. Not too bad.

I don't know the exact brand I have, but this style is very versatile. I've driven 2 LR3s with these, and 1 LR4.Easy to take on and off, store, and imo a nice accent to the body lines. BUT the wind noise is high pitched and LOUD. Personally I've gotten used to it as I have them on 90% of the time, but many of my passengers don't.
