Here are the keys I bought:

Amazon Amazon

If I can get them to work once I get a genuine key I will let you know.

I put in an inquiry with GAP to see if they say it is possible.Their manual does say that a working key must be present for the LR3, but hopefully that is incorrect. Either way it looks like I'll be ordering a key through the dealer.

Does the Autologic prompt you to start the engine when coding a key or no?

Thanks, Paul
No, It just says key programming complete. Sometimes I have to erase a code for immobilizer after as usually the vehicle is not happy when unlocking the door with the dealer cut key. But it always works.

Ive bought the aftermarket keys on ebay for around $30. Some have programmed, some not. Keep in mind its almost sure that they don't have a rechargeable circuit, at least all that I have seen.

the best you could do would be an ignition and door handle, with a key blade that works, then program new dealer remote.

also, not sure about the term cloning. When you add an additional key, the vehicle recognizes that as a separate key, not a clone of the original.

the reason you need to buy a dealer key when the others are lost if for security reasons.
So does the "code" stay the same and you just adding keys to a list of known ones for that vehicle? I assumed that the internal code or security measure was changed when adding keys since you need the original and any other keys you are going to use during the, which I described as cloning, process. Lets say I was adding a new key. I go through the process but I leave one of my already working keys out of the process. It would not work afterwards, correct?

One other key question... Do you have the ability to wipe a key from another LR3 so I can then program it to my vehicle? I have a few OEM Land Rover fobs I've collected from parted vehicles I'd like to get in rotation that have the battery charging feature in them.
Thanks!

All keys need to be present at time of coding/adding keys.

if not a previous coded remote will not work.

but, if you get the key that was out of the loop and then code again with all coded keys and the missing key, it will recode.

this is a safety feature.

i have a software guy that erases remotes for me so I can recode, but they only work if you have a working key/remote.

if nothing is present, dealer only.

Does the board have to come out of the case to do the wipe? The cases on the remotes i have are nice. One is brand new (but programmed to a vehicle). I'd hate to butcher them...

Case has to open up. But they need the code off of the case. There are 2 types and they need to be erased as such.
