Washed my '08 HSE this weekend and noticed the OEM silver paint on one of my 10-spoke wheels was flaking off like crazy. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo... but suffice to say there were a good number of chips.

The local wheel repair shop said this was a "common issue". What do you all think? My other wheels look OK.

I ask mostly because this shop also repaired one of my wheels last year. And while I can't prove it (since the wheels have been rotated since), I kind of sort of think this may have been the wheel they worked on before. They are powder coating this one now.

 

Yeah I would guess the flaking paint was the "repainted" wheel. OEM processes just can't be duplicated by many paint shops. Without a way to prove it, you're out of luck though.
