2010 LR4 Coolant Leak
Im looking at buying a 2010 LR4 with 144k on the clock. The guy says it has a coolant leak but the heads are not cracked and are in good condition. What can it be? He wants 6k for it, what can it cost to fix?
Like he said above. I have 2011 RRS that I believe according to the "indie" guy is based on the same platform as the LR4. We had a coolant leak for a couple of months and kept topping it off every week. I could smell the coolant but could not see anything!! While sitting at a drive through, we got the "restricted performance" message and the vehicle started shaking. Got out of line and parked it. Long story short, the front crossover pipe where it attaches to the block, under the intake, both tubes were blown out. When we removed it, we had to pry out the o-rings and the remaining plastic!! Total hard failure. Doing research I found that both the front and rear crossover tubes should be replaced. I replaced the front, rear and the water pump this week. Oh yeah, and the starter but that's another story.
I spent about $300 on parts and did it myself. Not too bad of a job. Probably saved $3500 not taking it somewhere!!
