Default 2011 LR4 “gearbox not in park”

I am unable to start my car. The gear shift is showing it’s in park, however it is not registering on the dashboard. When I attempt to start it, I receive a warning “gearbox not in park” any ideas? Sucks

Put it in neutral. It may just be that the linkage is binding up at the transmission, especially if the shifter seems like its stiff to move. It should move very easily. When this happens both Park and Drive may not be fully engaged. When mine was binding it would be in drive but the trans would occasionally act like it was slipping into neutral, because the shifter was actually right on the line between drive/neutral. Lubrication solved my issue.
