Try clearing any trouble codes. Sometimes that actuator motor shorts out and logs a DTC that shuts off the circuit as a protective measure. Just went through this with someone else in another forum - around post 25 or so in this thread: https://www.landroverworld.org/threa...k.42716/page-3.

If that doesn’t work, post back and we’ll help sort it out.

Do you have a device that let’s you clear codes regardless - GAP tool or the like? If so, try clearing all codes just for the heck of it. See if that works. I’ve seen this same problem twice, and both times clearing the codes put it back in service.

Assuming that doesn’t work, try popping hatch with the keyfob. This should avoid the tailgate switch circuit. If it works, problem is likely in the upper tailgate circuit. If not, problem is probably in the lower tailgate circuit (power to actuator).
(2).

From there, you’ll have to check fuses and start testing for good voltage and grounds. If you read through that thread I posted, you’ll find a discussion, including some wiring diagrams (starting around post 10, and again around post 20).

You’ll also see a link to another thread where the problem was actually a loose connector under one of the seats: https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr...r-96532/page2/

Not sure if you resolved this, but if you haven't it may be the actuator in the tailgate. We just replaced this yesterday in my LR4. Fairly simple to do by yourself once you pop it open.
