Default 2012 LR4, can I run 18" wheels on it?

It's an HSE, OEM wheels are 19" running 255x55 Continental 4x4 tires. I live in Denver CO and while these tires did ok last winter, I'd like a set of dedicated winter wheels with a more snow oriented tire on it. I plan to put a normal summer tire on the OEM 19" wheels so...

can I run an OEM land rover 18" wheel on the 2012 LR4? The accessories book only has 19's and 20's so I'm guessing not, but thought I'd ask.

thanks

Unfortunately, a standard 18" OEM rim won't fit due to the increase in size of the brakes for the LR4. I think they are just a shade over 13" front and just under 13" in the rear. By the time you add the diameter to accommodate the calipers, there is not enough space.

I did some research awhile back and there is a company out of Australia who made an 18" rim that apparently will fit (I think they custom forged the rime to have a reinforced inner wall that was pushed out to accommodate the larger brakes). Here's the link:
18" rims for D4/RRS from GOE"

Don't know if they are legal in the US. Cost to ship will be pricey as well.

Good luck and let us know what you end up doing!

Default thanks for the information...

i sent them an email to see how much shipping to the US would be, but likely won't make sense with that kind of freight. I guess i'll pickup another set of 19s for winter use.

Thanks again!

actually check the driver door for tire sizes. if it qualifies for an 18 it will be listed in the tire info sticker. not sure though. but it will give the tire size. like an 18*9.0 or 19*7.0

I believe there is an 18" option available from the UK (Compmotive?). Will be pricey.

For 19" winter tires the choice is limited but there are some more aggressive options:

Toyo Observe Open Country G-02 Plus
OBSERVE OPEN COUNTRY G-02 PLUS | Toyo Tires

Pirelli Carving Edge (studdable). Available?
Pirelli Winter Carving Edge (1835200)

Nokian also makes a couple options.

Default winter tires...

thanks for those. first i'll see about the 18" wheels, but i was thinking of getting either 265x60/18 Mickey Thompson Baja STZ or GoodYear Wrangler Silent Armor. These are not snow tires, just off road tires.

not sure if anyone has comments on either of those in the snow?
