As I was driving about 55 on highway, the LR4 warning light "Restricted Performance" appeared and suddenly I had loss of acceleration. As the car decelerated, I aimed for the roadside and then discovered power steering was also gone, too. I did my best to turn the wheel (difficult without power steering) to get off the highway and onto the ramp intersection. I landed car as far as it would go to the middle of a busy intersection off the highway ramp. I was glad to be off the highway, but still very worried about getting hit in the car in the middle of the busy road. I had no acceleration or drive capability, but I couldn't power off the car either. The ignition button was not responding at all. Given that there was a complete auxillary systems malfunction, I was not certain the park gear and brake were functioning, so I kept my foot on brake until the tow truck came because I was concerned about my LR4 rolling backwards if park was not engaged. The car literally would not drive, but not power off either. Of course, this was very dangerous. Has this happened to anyone else? Are there any recalls? This type of malfunction could injure the car occupants as well as other adjacent drivers.

 

Dead Battery? Mine (2011) died in a street in 2015 with dead battery, no warning beforehand.
