I bought a 2012 LR4 through an internet auction listed as mechanical damage. I took a chance thinking I might get lucky and it just be timing chain issues. When I got it home I noticed, while unloading it, that there was a hole in the oil pan and that all the skid plates were gone. That was strike one. After getting a battery to it there was absolutely no compression. Strike 2. I still thought that maybe it just jumped time that bad and that there would be bent valves maybe damaged pistons. After I got the heads off I knew I had bigger troubles. I am posting pics. I have 4 burnt pistons with holes in them. Four bad cylinders as well. Good news is, my crank and rod bearings look good! I am now looking for another engine. With all the machining work that it would take and the fact I am almost certain the heads will be warped as well, I can’t see any advantage to try and rebuild this engine. I wonder how long does everyone think they had to drive it overheating to burn that many pistons? No way it ran out of oil first, all my bearings looked great and engine was not seized. Anyway, thought some might find this interesting
