Bright pink/red leak. Near fireware. Coolant? Cross over?
2016 LR4 with around 90,000 miles. Common issue of coolant lines and connectors and fuel rail recently replaced
I noticed one drop of bright pink or red fluid a few weeks ago near transmission pan (see pic). Nothing since. No other issues (no smells, no smoke in exhaust at cold start, weird shifting, error codes, additional drops, etc.). Crawled around today and found some more of it accumulating where engine meets transmission. Any guesses? Coolant from the above rear crossover pipe?
Secondly. Has anyone replaced the transmission pan on 2014, 2015 or 2016 LR4? I noticed the kit on Atlantic British doesn't come with a gasket, etc. like the kit for previous year LR4's. Is the transmission pan on 2014, 2015, 2016 smaller than on 2013 and older LR4?
Firstly, that leak is troubling. I’d want to investigate the actual source.
Secondly, absolutely I have had the transmission fluid and filter changed. Myself, I choose OEM (ZF) or factory only. Yes, a gasket was included. And the bolts were replaced as well.
Hey Guy. Thanks for the reply. I believe the rear crossover valve may be the source of the very slow (for now) leak. I watched the Atlantic British video about removing/replacing the transmission pan on an older LR4 but after seeing that the catalytic converter has to be removed, the motor mount has to be removed and a jack has to be used to raise the rear of the transmission so the pan can clear out, I'm not comfortable doing that. Do you recall having to do that on your newer LR4?
Sorry, I misread or misinterpreted your post. According to Atlantic British, the removal/installation of the pan on the LR4 is a bit easier than it was on the LR3 as shown in their video. I appreciate the feedback
Coolant's water soluble, transmission fluid or any other oil based fluid's not so it would be pretty easy to test. Coolant also smells sweet, oil smells like, well, oil...
