Default Landrover LR4 Coolant Leak at Rear of Vehicle

Hello--I own a 2010 Landrover LR4. I have recently discovered a leak at the left rear of the vehicle. The leak seems to be originating above the muffler area (See attached picture). In looking at the fluid, it seems to be the color of my coolant (pinkish in color). Has anyone seen this issue----any recommendations on how to resolve would be great! I have done searches on youtube, and the web, but have not been able to find a video that would address this issue.

As you can see, the leak is beyond the rear tire, so I don't believe it is a brake line leak.

The coolant lines run under the right side (passenger side in the USA) under the doors and then go up under the wheel liner on the back right side to supply heat for the rear climate control.

A guess is there is a leak in one of these lines or at one of the connections.

Default Coolant leak toward rear of lr4

Is there a diagram of coolant lines for US supercharged V6 somewhere? We found a leak on my 2015 LR4 and at first we thought it was the transmission pan leaking. It wasn't. After reading different threads, before I panic about needing to remove the supercharger, I'd like to see where the lines run.

If the leak is around the transmission pan, then it is likely the rear crossover leaking. The rear crossover runs on the rear side of the engine (near the firewall), pretty close to the block. But could also be the front crossover, which leaks down in the valley of the engine and usually comes out behind or around the water pump, but could find its way out the back as well. Get a cheap borescope and look down in the valley of the engine near the oil filter.

The rear crossover is lower than the supercharger, so pretty tough to see or feel without getting the supercharger off. If you google for pics of the scv6 engine, you might find a picture of the rear of the engine that will show you where it’s located (black plastic pipe). You might also find a picture in this thread: https://www.landroverworld.org/threa...e-cover.42135/. The front is below the supercharger so you definitely need to lift the supercharger to get to it.

It would be very difficult, maybe impossible, to change the rear crossover without removing the supercharger. You are far better off pulling the supercharger and changing both front and rear crossovers, because the front will go very soon if the back is leaking.

Removing the supercharge is not really something to panic over. If you want to do it yourself, the above thread will walk you through it. Just label all your connections with a piece of tape or the like (I used blue painters tape and just marked both sides of the connections as I went, 1-1, 2-2, etc.). If you take your time and you’re careful, its not so bad. If you are going to pay someone, it can be expensive depending on where you live, but not break-the-bank expensive.

By the way, this thread is concerned with a different coolant leak - not in the engine compartment, but at the very rear of the vehicle near the aux heater.

Did you find the root cause for this? I am seeing drops of coolant by the driver side, inside the rear wheel. Can see the wet spots on the heat shield and figured it was something to do with a rear heater core. Thanks, all I could find is this diagram.

Anyone know how to bleed air out of these rear lines?
