Default Climate system questions & observations

A couple of months ago the 12-month old climate system stopped working correctly.

This is what I am observing today and it does not make sense. With the AC button on, I can press the recirc button for the light and on screen message to display on and off, however the actual door inside the blower box does nothing and stays closed. BUT if I turn off the AC button, the recirc button now toggles the door inside the blower box to open or close on command.

Next observation, if I set passenger climate to 84F and driver to 60F, the passenger side does NOT blow hot, but if I set both to 84F then both blow hot.

Anyone know why?

gremlins or…
As I suggested in another thread, low available voltage and current greatly ill affects these electrical systems.
I would rule that out first. Then an electrical “reset”.

If that didn’t solve the issue, there’s the larger diagnosis which probably involves a “mechanical” adjustment if the box.
It sounds as if the servo is working… partially. I have had the box apart on the LR2 and did grease all the fittings and its working properly now.

So what am I doing responding here, you ask. I’m going to pull the trigger and add an LR4 to the stable. But I’ve been playing with toys from JLR fir many, many years…. As I read from another forum: “Land Rover (and Jaguar) - Making mechanics out of owners since 1948.”

Ran an SDD session last night. Again ran the routine to re-initialise the stepper actuators and I can indeed hear them running and what sounds like dampers moving. However in data logger checking the status of the left front blend actuator at maximum cold it says invalid 20 (the SDD notes say it should be MAXIMUM COLD 20). As I increase the driver side temp, the number increase but the invalid message remains and the air temperature does not change until maximum heat at which point I hear the door and feel the air become hot and the message in SDD changes to intermediate. On the right front blend door status at maximum cold the status message in SDD says MAXIMUM COLD 20, but when I increase the temp, the numbers change and the status changes to intermediate but at HI it still says intermediate and the temp never gets hot (or cold).

There are no errors or DTCs when running any climate routines.

Indeed, especially now main dealers are of little help. It's a great truck, meets everything I need like nothing else does, it's just so bloody delicate...

I've got the workshop book, it's quite less detailed than the X150, sadly. Been through all sensors and routines, I can hear the actuators, next to remove console panels and have a look at them.

Yeah, I think the x150 workshop and electrical manuals set the standard. Are you saying its not worth the subscription to topix to collect it?

I downloaded mine from a UK site, TOPIX is always useful though. What I found with the new Rover books is there are mostly drawings with color coded parts to identify which parts news removal, disposal, etc. rather than any text directions or there's references to other sections of the book which often refer to yet another section. This's something other members here have complained about. I think you'll find needing to make your own determinations as to how to service the vehicle as I have done as use the workshop manual as a guide. Sadly there's also little available on YouTube.

Still working perfectly, ice cold air (other than condenser overheating).
