So I am very new to Land Rover. Believe it or not I was actually gifted my 2011 LR4 back in March and I love every second I spend it it. My problem is I'm a guy with multiple jobs. I do lots of driving on the daily. My work car died last week and I'm in the process of buying a new daily. My question is, how wise is it to push my LR4 every day as hard as I did my 03 Volkswagen.
Well, I’m no where near 50k on maintenance (don’t suggest I need to spend more to my Inde ;-) but 165,000 kms on my 2015 HSE Lux and it is perfect.
And despite how some others imply the vehicle is delicate, I firmly disagree. But it is a heavy vehicle, implying more routine maintenance.
Even in the city, driving it is just easy. Easy to parallel park, easy to back in, easy to navigate thin roads, easy to make U turns…
And I can see EVERYTHING from up there. whereas I see very little from the xkr.
What’s cool is that everyone likes the look of an LR4, too.
Ive posted before but I just hit 103,750 miles. 2016 Landmark LR4 - just had LR driving lamps fitted and new LED fog lamps. Also back to my summer wheel/tire combo.
I'm on my third Land Rover. I sold my LR3 with 196,000 miles on it with no major repairs while I owned it, My daughter went through the car wash with the sunroof open which drained into the floor wiring and messed with the security system and prevented the car from starting until it dried out thoroughly.
I picked up a LR4 for $5,000 from a neighbor but it needed some work and a lot of maintenance done. It now has 157,000 miles. I replaced the front struts, front control arms and bushings, valve box, and air compressor. It's now on its fourth water pump because I bought a cheap one on eBay and learned my lesson. I've had some coolant leak problems and replaced the front and rear cross over pipes and had some leaky hoses. I think it's solved at this point. I need to do the timing chain tensioners and may get to it this summer. It's complaining about an P0042 EVAP leak so I've purchased a new gas cap to see if that solves it. So this one hasn't been trouble free, but it's all of the typical Land Rover stuff and I haven't had to take it to the shop (except for the gas tank seal recall). Knock on wood, eh?
My wife has a 2016 Range Rover Autobiography with 147,000 miles. I haven't had to fix anything on it so far... except that the glove box won't open and I haven't figured that one out yet (It's not the valet setting).

I have this in white. My vehicle was one of the last 2000 made. I wonder where yours fell in the final run (the VIN info is on Wiki).
theyve both been reliable but with $40k spent on each since new, 2011 and 2013 respectively. Have never been left stranded but timing chains, coolant systems, suspension and brakes over hundred of thousands miles add up!
